When I look at this portrait I am reminded of classical Greco-Roman statues. The entire body is perfectly detailed including where the hands are positioned on the body. Again both in Classical and Renaissance sculpture and statues the male human form is captured as if by photograph. Color techniques are well executed including the red velvet coverlet in this image. Clearly this image reminds me of a private painting owned by a wealthy man or woman somewhere in Spain, Italy or France in a boudoir at a country estate. Creating a more close and yet very intimate setting in private.
